Serving the Community and the Region
Lisa has lived in the city of Roseville for many years. She even passed on the college dorm life, preferring to live in Roseville while she was a student at the College of St. Thomas. When it was time for Lisa and her husband to find a home of their own, they chose the same community. For quite a while, she was been involved in her community in the ways that most people are; a parent of a child in schools, participation at church, a connected neighbor and parent of a child playing on various local sports teams. But eventually she decided it was time to do more….
Healthcare Leadership
Lisa’s job title is Director of Marketing and Communications so the obvious part of Lisa's professional role is to promote the medical practice that she works for, MNGI Digestive Health. That would include the marketing of its six clinics, its six endoscopy centers, the more than 100 medical providers who deliver specialty care, as well as the various medical services and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that the practice offers to patients. MNGI is a private practice that also works in collaboration with local health systems and provides emergency and on-call coverage to several local hospitals. The practice is also a nationally recognized leader in gastrointestinal (GI) specialty care and one of the largest private GI practices in the country.
As part of her job, she also provides GI health education and awareness to individuals and patients throughout the metro and Minnesota. This means heavy involvement in fundraising walks & runs, dinners & galas, as well as supporting health fairs throughout the community. She has led several initiatives working in collaboration with minority populations to raise awareness and life-saving, cancer-screening rates in their communities, and has partnered with self-insured employers who are looking to support and encourage cancer-screening programs for their employees.

- Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC), Board of Directors - In 2009, Lisa applied for and was selected as a gubernatorial appointee to the MN Humanities Center. After her appointment expired, she was elected to serve as a regular member for 2 years and then was elected to serve as Vice Chair for two consecutive one-year terms in 2012 and 2013. She was then elected to serve as Board Chair for two consecutive one-year terms in 2014 and 2015. Today, she still serves on the Board of Directors and participates with several committees. MHC focuses on bringing the unique resources of the humanities to the challenges and opportunities of our times. Core programs currently focus on opportunities working with Minnesota educators, schools, veterans and water issues affecting communities statewide.
- Roseville City Council Member, Elected Office - In 2012, Lisa had a desire to be more involved in her own community so she ran for elected local office. She saw a lot of changes coming for her community and believed herself to have sound judgment for future decision making regarding public safety, aging infrastructure, taxes, business concerns, housing and economic development and parks and recreation programs and amenities. Lisa is now in her fourth year as an elected city council member in Roseville. In 2014, her peers elected her as Acting Mayor and she has also served on Council Sub-Committees focused on evaluating Citizen Advisory Commissions and the City Manager’s annual review.
- Metro Cities Board of Directors - Lisa was recently elected by municipal leaders across the Twin Cities metro region to serve on the Metro Cities Board of Directors. She will begin serving in this role later in 2016. The primary objective of this organization is to be an effective voice for metropolitan cities at the Legislature and Metropolitan Council, so as to influence state legislation affecting metro area cities, and regional policies that accommodate the needs of metro area cities.
- Ramsey County League of Local Governments (RCLLG), Board of Directors - For four years, Lisa has been Roseville’s appointed Board Member to the RCLLG. The mission of the RCLLG is to foster and enhance cooperation and coordination among Ramsey County units of local government, thereby increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of delivering public service to Ramsey county residents.

- Cedarholm Golf Course Clubhouse Replacement Advisory Team - Lisa worked along with 22 other resident volunteers to discuss, study, analyze and make recommendations regarding the replacement for the golf course's clubhouse in a way that meets the needs of the community today and for generations to come. The Advisory Team gathered input from the community and learned from other golf course operations with similar projects from the past, and studied the financial options and challenges before making their final recommendation to the Parks and Recreation Commission and the City Council.
- Roseville Alzheimer’s and Dementia Community Action Team (Rsvl A/D) - Lisa has been involved with Rsvl A/D for a couple of years. This group is comprised of community members, municipal staff, aging services professionals and local school district personnel, and is focused on improving conditions for Roseville individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and their unpaid caregivers.
- Roseville Community Health Awareness Team (CHAT) – Lisa is also involved with a group of local volunteers/community members who are focused on bringing health resources to Roseville residents. Events and education for 2016 will focus on Advance Care Planning, which is a critical activity for all adults, regardless of age or health condition, as well as learning events regarding Health Literacy and Health Care Homes.
- Friends of Roseville Parks (FORParks) – Most recently, Lisa has been volunteering her time as a member of the Planning Committee for Tapped and Uncorked, one of the largest annual events to benefit the Friends of Roseville Parks, a non-profit organizations whose members raise funds for the benefit of all Roseville parks and recreation facilities, which provide activities and spaces for families, children and adults in our community.

This is accomplished by promoting and delivering the physician/administrative team approach to health care and medical group management.
- MN Action Plan to Improve Health Literacy - Over the past several months, Lisa has also been working on a statewide health literacy project. Health organizations worked together to outline six priorities to help improve the way Minnesotans access and understand health information. This will allow them to take action to protect and improve their own health and wellness.
- Minnesota Chamber of Commerce - In 2015, Lisa became active with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. She has had a particular interest in the Women in Business events and has more recently become a member of the Health Care Policy Committee.
- Community health – Lisa has devoted a great deal of her time to colon cancer awareness research projects. In 2014, she worked on a University of Minnesota project that took place during the 12 days of the Minnesota State Fair. In 2015, she led a different focus group project to learn more about colon cancer health disparities among African Americans in the University Avenue area of Saint Paul. The results of that project have led to action items being supported by Minnesota Gastroenterology, the Minnesota Department of Health, the American Cancer Society and local community health clinics.
